DIRECTED RETREAT: June 22-29, 2021 Villa Pauline
Directors: Carol Makravitz, SCC, Teresa Skierkowski, SCC, Ed Salmon, SJ
The focus of this retreat is a person’s relationship with God. Scripture, prose, poetry and other materials are offered for prayer and reflection. Retreatants will have the opportunity to meet daily with a spiritual director for guidance, discernment and affirmation in developing a deeper and richer relationship with God. Daily Eucharistic Liturgy and the Sacrament of Reconciliation will be available. This six day Ignatian directed retreat is an invitation to reflect on how we are meeting God in our prayer and in our life experiences.
GUIDED RETREAT: July 6-13, 2021 Villa Pauline Facilitator: Josita Marks, SCC
Theme: Augustine’s Vision of Community
In this retreat we will ponder what St Augustine had in mind when he and his friends desired to form a community given over to the search for wisdom through individual reflection and common sharing. The main object of Augustine’s Rule is very simple: the brothers/sisters are to live together in their religious house in a harmonious manner and be one in mind and heart on their way to God. In a few words, everything in the Rule points to forming a community of faith and love.
PREACHED RETREAT: July 16-23, 2021 Villa Pauline Facilitator: Fr. Leo McKernan
Theme: Jesus Christ is Lord
Fr. McKernan will employ passages from the Gospel of Mark, the Book of Revelation, and The Lord by Romano Guardini, to reflect on the question: What is the Spirit telling the Church today?
PREACHED RETREAT: August 7-14, 2021 Villa Pauline
Facilitator: Rev. Daniel J. Issing, C.S.C., Ph.D.
Theme: “Fervor at our Fingertips: The Practice of Joy in the Consecrated Life
A repeated theme of Vita Consecrata is “the spiritual quality of the consecrated life.” Are we an attractive witness to the virtue of leaving everything behind for the sake of Christ? Does our lifestyle turn others to Jesus? In this retreat, we will celebrate religious life as covenanted metanoia. Through the evangelical counsels, we chase after what Pope Francis calls “the original freshness of the Gospel.” Ours is a stability of amazement at, generosity for, and collaboration with the coming kingdom, that divine creativity that is always at work to renew all living things and especially human communities. We will together examine and pray about how to constantly receive the joy of Christ so that our lives and ministry will glow with gospel fervor.

19th ANNOTATION of the SPIRITUAL EXERCISES
The 19th Annotation of the Spiritual Exercises is a profound and transformative retreat experience that is made over a period of nine months in daily life. The Exercises are organized around four “weeks” as they were originally given during the structure of a 30 day retreat. St. Ignatius himself found that many people could not, because of family or business reasons, take thirty days off, leave home, and go away for a retreat. So he created an adaptation of the Exercises, which would be extended over a period of time. This is what is known as the 19th Annotation.
