Call to Action Support Aid to Refugees and Immigrants
Our General Chapter addressed the plight of immigrants throughout the world and urged us to do “whatever is possible within each province or region to support with prayer and actions to help alleviate the plight of the suffering immigrants in today’s world”. Here is an opportunity to do something!

Do We Believe All Life is Sacred?
On December 10 we celebrated the International Day for Human Rights. At the same time, here in the U.S. we prepared to execute Brandon Bernard, a man given the death penalty for a crime committed when he was 18 years old acting as an accomplice in a murder. Our actions are desperately needed for other Federal Executions scheduled before President Trump leaves office if we believe that all human life is sacred. Discussion Guide for Fratelli Tutti (Ignatian Solidarity Network)
Pope Francis proclaimed this the year of St. Joseph, Patron of the Universal Church, which began on December 8. This highlights his important role as “a beloved father, a tender and loving father, an obedient father, an accepting father; a father who is creatively courageous, a working father, a father in the shadows.” Pope Francis reminds us that “Each of us is called to bear glad tidings to all, testifying by our practical works of mercy to the joy of knowing Jesus and his love.” We are so grateful for all those who continue to work in the shadow of the pandemic, the hidden and faithful health care and essential workers who, like St. Joseph, devoted to caring for the Holy Family, have dedicated themselves untiringly to the care of all those affected by the virus.
The Homeless Holy Family finds a home on 150th Street in the Bronx
Sr. Jude and Sr. Janice along with their students and community members built this stable as an icon of hope for our homeless brothers and sisters who live on the streets of the Bronx. It lights up the darkness for many who are underserved and suffering from poverty, hunger, unemployment, and systemic racism. Let us lift up all those on the margins of our society during this season of hope that they may find comfort and joy, friendship and peace in Emmanuel, God-with-us, who is born in each of us!
